Board of Directors
The board of directors for WDDA consists of disabled leaders and disability allies who have aligned themselves and their efforts to promotion access equity and disability inclusion in community, education, and representation.

Jessica King (She/They)
Jessica identifies as a diversely neurodivergent and chronically ill woman. Focusing on creative expression and academic research, she specializes her advocacy efforts in disability culture, justice, and accessibility.

Still in the early years of her disability advocacy, she pursues opportunities to support community projects and disability representation. Jessica has presented at regional conferences, published digital zines, and visited​​ city colleges as a guest speaker.

While accepting the “Commitment to Social Justice” individual award at California State University, Long Beach, Jessica shared that while “[her] name may be on the certificate, [her] award is dedicated to CSULB students with disabilities and the disabled community. This award is a promise that [she] will keep going in representing [her] community and advocating for more narratives to be acknowledged.”​

Destiny Islas (She/Her)
Destiny is the first in her family to earn a bachelor's degree (Liberal Studies) and recently finished her MA in Public Administration at California State University, Long Beach.
Living with anxiety, Type 1 diabetes, and recently diagnosed with ADHD, she founded the campus Diabetes Connection and advocates for sharps containers in University Student Union facilities. Active in the student health and wellness committee, she aims for a career in management to support low-income communities as a diverse leader.

Jamie Lerner-Brecher (She/Her)
Jamie is a disability studies scholar-activist. She currently works as a disability specialist at the Center for Accessible Education at UCLA on the unceded lands of the Chumash and Tongva Nations. She holds a master's degree in Disability Studies from the CUNY School of Professional Studies and a bachelor's degree in American Studies from Columbia University.
Jamie is passionate about creating access and equity for all disabled students, especially those who are multiply-marginalized. Jamie’s current research focuses on disability training and inclusive pedagogy for faculty as well as marginalized disabled students’ accommodation usage at UCLA.
Jamie has multiple chronic illnesses including Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, gastroparesis, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. She also has a learning disability.
